7th Time’s The Charm

Last night I had a show in West Virginia.

This was the 7th show I’ve done at this venue.

Reminds me of a quote from one of my favorite people on planet earth (hi CJ!):

“Anybody can get booked anywhere once; it’s getting brought back that’s the hard part.”

What’s the secret?

Making connections.

It’s that simple.

Well, I also forgot about having a great show / product / service. But, I assume you already have that on lock.

You are the world’s best at what you do, right?

Because that solves a lot of problems.

But, back to connections.

There’s an interesting wrinkle to this 7-Time-Club story.

This is the third person at this school to book me.

As in, the first person to bring me in left that school for another opportunity. So the second person brought me in on the first person’s recommendation.

Then the second person left for another opportunity (and brought me there too). The third person brought me in on the second person’s recommendation.

It’s incredible to me how you can get institutional buy-in to stick with what works. It transcends the personal connection, but the personal level is where it starts (and continues as in the case of Person 2 bringing me in at their new location several times already).

So how good are you? Do you get repeat business?

If not, maybe we should talk.

Best thoughts,
~Jonathan
