I make a lot of videos about Obsidian, but you might not know why I love it so much.
To that end I back up a little bit to explain what you can do with Obsidian (build a personal knowledge database) and what you can do with it (transform your life).
Obsidian recently released an incredible update that makes YML, frontmatter, and metadata easier to use. . . IF you don’t screw it up like I did!
I’m not fond of using scripts & code (this is a major reason why I love Obsidian; you don’t need to use it!), but now I can have my cake and eat it too. I can use file properties to open up a whole new way of organizing my database, and I wanted to make this video for anyone else who might be like me & have avoided YML due to it’s heavy learning curve.
Obsidian is fantastic for organizing your thoughts, but it’s so flexible that it can be tough to figure out where to start.
This is my introduction to how I use folders, links, and tags with suggestions for you on how to get the most out of it with the least amount of headaches.
This program is beautifully simple and that makes it incredibly powerful.
There’s a lot you can do with it, but there’s really very little you must know before you’re building one of the most valuable resources in your life: an easily searchable database of things you care about.
Obsidian.md is a must-have for anyone who makes anything.
