  • Who Is Future You?

    Who Is Future You?

Imagine a friend is coming to visit you next week.

Would you put some time aside on your calendar to spend time with them? Would you do a little extra cleaning up? Would you use the ‘good’ silverware when you have dinner?

    I’d bet on yes.

Here’s the kick to the gut: why do you treat your friends better than you treat yourself when you spend so much more time with yourself?

How much do you take yourself for granted?

I say a lot more than you might be aware of.

    And that’s the trick.

Think of Future You as a really good friend who loves Present You a lot and Future You wants what’s best for you.

The happier Present You is, the happier Future You is for you when they come to visit.

If you can think of yourself in the 3rd person, you’re more likely to be a little more patient, kind, and considerate with yourself.

And wouldn’t that be a nice thing?

PS: Did you give the video from yesterday a watch? I know it’s a little longer than the recent ones, but there was a lot to cover (like hearing your parent’s voice). What did you think?

  • Lifestyle Design In 5 Simple Steps

Lifestyle Design In 5 Simple Steps

If you’ve ever wondered how to live your dream life, this is the video for you. For the past 20 years I’ve been touring the world as as high-paid entertainer / speaker / trainer which is my way of saying “my best life.”

Lots of people ask me how in the world I did it, so this is the step-by-step approach that I’ve used & taught to clients over the years.

This system has helped thousands of people realize their dreams faster than they ever thought possible.

  • Writing as time traveling

    Writing as time traveling

Reading minds is cool and all, but what about seeing the future?

Or one better: seeing the future and then pulling it into the present moment.

    How badass would that be?

I guess the level of badassery would depend on what you see.

Are you seeing Armageddon? Maybe leave the future in the future.

Seeing everything you’ve ever hoped & dreamed for? Bring it on in!

While I appear to predict the future on stage during my show, there are ways to shape your future in the present moment.

I 100% believe this is the most powerful kind of magic that a person can genuinely perform.

You can imagine the future that you want, go through certain kinds of “rituals,” and then live the future that you dreamt up.

I’ll be posting a video tomorrow that explains how it works.

It pulls on the approaches I’ve used to go from living in a trailer park to traveling the world as a high-paid consultant working on the coolest projects under the sun!

Then, for the rest of the week, I’ll be sharing more insights about it.

Have questions? I want to hear ’em! What kind of future do you want to create? I want to know! What would you like to know about how it all works?

Hit reply and let it rip. I’m ready.

    Vegas wasn’t ALL fun.

Some of it was work, too.

    Which was fun.

The group in the photo was a fun gang.

I read their minds, predicted their future, helped stretch their imagination of what’s possible, and they are never going to forget the name “Thrive Agency!”

The woman in the center had so much fun that she left and came back with her four other colleagues and made them watch.

Now THAT is a high compliment in my book.

You have to have a damn fine pitch if your audience grabs their friends to have you sell to them too.

That’s why my trade show work is so much fun for me. I love getting the ratio of comedy, mind reading, and client messaging juuuuuuust right.

Guess that’s why I get paid the big bucks!

Might post a video of the 12 minute set in a couple days, but for now I’ll let you go.

  • Surprising Connections

    Surprising Connections

There’s an underground Mentalist who I have respected for years. He creates experiences that are direct, powerful, and professional. They’re perfect for me.

    And he’s a reclusive cat.

He can disappear for years. No email. No website. Nothing.

Then he comes back with new material to share with the community before going off grid again.

Hardly anyone in the magic world even knows about this guy.

That’s why I was so surprised this week.

    The Scene

I’m in the booth at the International Franchise Association doing my thing for one of the country’s largest digital marketing agencies.

I get done entertaining an older guy who says, “That’s fantastic, really is. It reminds me of a guy, UNDERGROUND MENTALIST. You ever heard of him?”

    What?!

“Yeah, he’s great. We worked together a lot over the years. Love that guy. Hard to get ahold of, though. Haven’t heard from him in years. If you ever cross paths, let him know I say hi. In the meantime, though, give me a call. I think it’s time to start doing this stuff again.”

    I take his card.

He’s a VP at Bank of America.

You could have pushed me over with a feather.

Isn’t that how it always happens? You’re doing one thing that leads to another and before you know it you’re living your wildest dreams.

That’s the power of connection & relationships.

PS: Did you know I created the ZAVANT Sales System? It combines powerful mentalism principles, a tiny bit of showmanship, and a whole lot of good thinking into a foolproof process for landing small-to-enterprise level opportunities? I’m about to add even more insights, which means the price goes up too. More details soon!

  • You Can Be Anything

    . . .Just don’t be boring.

That’s what I’m thinking about as I walk through all the blinking lights & ding! ding! ding! of the casino and seeing droves of people completely focused on their bright machines ignoring everything else.

Houdini understood all this. He knew in his bones that his audience was the source of all his success.

The conduit between his success & his audience was his ability to command their attention.

    Not just be interesting.

    But commanding.

He was so daring. So dynamic. So overwhelming that you could only pay attention to him.

And it wasn’t because he was physically imposing. He was a short dude.

It was his single-minded focus on being the greatest the world has ever seen.

How do you look away from that?

So what’s most interesting about you? What are you interested in?

I want to know! Hit reply, and I’ll read your answer.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

    Also!

I got quite a bit of feedback from the 5 pillars email last week, so I turned it into a video. Hope you like it!

  • Life Is Sales

You have to sell yourself on the idea that your life can change.

You have to sell yourself on the idea that you can have the life you want.

You have to sell yourself on the idea that you’re worth it.

All of this has to happen, first, before anyone else can buy into your dream.

And that’s what sales is: helping someone else share the same vision as you.

Most people don’t know how to do that. They’re stuck in the same way of thinking. The same way of doing things. The same way of ‘just getting by.’

That’s why I’m so passionate about understanding the psychology of why people decide to change, how they think about doing it, why they buy, what motivates them, and more.

Once you unlock that fundamental secret, then you can help people make incredible changes.

That’s what I’m thinking about this morning as I’m waiting on my flight to Vegas.

How about you? What’s the biggest idea that you’ve sold yourself on? What’s the biggest deal you’ve closed (for yourself or with someone else; could be both!)?

Success starts in the mind & works its way out into the world from there.

That’s why I am 1000% convinced that founders, engineers, managers, introverts, extraverts, and everyone between would benefit from learning sales.

    What do you think?

PS: I’m thinking of dialing the emails back to twice a week. Once to let you know about the new video/topic, and the second as an article like this talking about psychology, life, & business. That means they’d be longer vs a more bite-size note like this. What do you think?

    One Thing Holding You Back

My first job out of college was working at a magic shop in Universal Studios in Orlando Florida. I sold magic tricks to people from all over the world and I saw something that gave me a peek into the number one thing holding people back from success.

  • 7 Reasons To Start A YouTube Channel In 2023

7 Reasons To Start A YouTube Channel In 2023

    This gets kinda meta.

Last week my wife went on a 4 day work trip.

As you may or may not know, we have a 6 month old kid; our first.

This would be the first time that my wife was away from our daughter. That also meant that this would be the first time I get to keep the baby alive.

    All by myself.

Spoiler Alert: it went fine. Mostly.

That kid can scream, man. She had gotten used to A Certain Standard Of Living™ and it is not Bottles By Dad™.

    And she let me know.

    From 9:30 to 10:30pm. And midnight to 1am. And 2:30 to 3:45.

    She’s a fantastic negotiator.

So, when I had a hot second to shoot this video I was tired.

I wasn’t feeling my best. Certainly don’t look my best either. It was late at night after the baby was taking a quick powernap between Parenting Feedback Sessions™ so the lighting is all janky.

And, after looking at the footage, I almost didn’t post it.

    I was afraid.

But then, I thought about how one of the lessons that I recorded is to not let fear stop you from doing the things that you know will help the world.

So I went ahead and used it.

And I think it’s pretty dang good. If I didn’t tell you, you may never have thought “Boy, he looks like he’s been taking care of a 6 month old all on his own.”

So go watch the video telling you not to be afraid that I was almost too afraid to post.

You’ll also see why I (who has under 500 YouTube subscribers) still think everyone should start a YouTube channel in 2023. Even if you’re an introvert. Even if you don’t want a big audience. And why I have committed to sharing stories about my time on & off stage, on the road, and in board rooms across the world.
