The Science Of Trying Everything

Last year I decided to upload one video a week, and so far I’ve made good on that promise to myself.

Part of the fun is experimenting with what works / what doesn’t work / what’s fun to change up.

Today’s test?

Trying out YouTube’s Premiere function.

Last night I uploaded the video & I set it to kick off this morning at 11am.

I watched the whole video & it looks like 30ish people checked it out during that time.

Seems like that kick-started its visibility and then that fooled the algorithm in showing it to more people.

The consequence?

It went way above usual numbers.

Take a look at the screenshot and you might notice a lighter gray little area.

That tiny bit of gray is the usual range of views I get from a new video.

So, yeah.

That’s a crazy “number go up and to the right” blue line.

Now, it’s not an empirically large number, but compared to the numbers that my humble experiment has been getting it’s pretty darn good.

I think this kind of ‘kick it around and see what happens’ approach has been responsible for getting monetized recently & about to hit the second level soon too!

Fun stuff.

Let’s see what happens next!
