When To Launch?

“One instinct I’ve had for a while is that keeping quiet and then doing a BIG SURPRISE launch is a great way of getting more Day 1 hype than you would otherwise. But basically everyone with experience in marketing would tell me the opposite, right?”

That’s from a person in my private group (Valeria.City).

They’re working on a fascinating project & I can’t wait to see them succeed big time.

I had a LOT to say & most of it was just for them, but I wanted to take a moment to point to how common this idea is.

And they got it right with the last sentence; they’re dead wrong.

Because here’s what everyone does.

They build in private. They betatest in private. They don’t tell anyone about anything they’re working on.

Then the big day (that they haven’t told anyone about) comes and they “tell the world about it” which translates to “post about it on Twitter a couple times today.”

Who sees it?

NOBODY.

Why in the world anyone thinks you can have a huge crowd of people clambering for what you’re building when you keep it a secret is beyond me.

But 99% of people think that’s the way to do it.

So, what IS the right way to do it?

That’s where you come in.

I’d love to hear what you think before I share some of the big picture details I shared with my community member.

Looking forward to it.
